5 ways to prep for a successful 2022

Updated: Jan 3

Now that it is officially January, and a brand new year, it is time to get your business organized. For most photographers this is our "Off Season", so now is the time to prep your business for a successful and enjoyable year.

Here are 5 things that I am working on, and you should be too!

First things first, let's talk about goals! When you think about 2022 and all that you want to achieve you need to set clear, S.M.A.R.T. goals. When setting your big goals it's important to set a few actionable items for each goal. Put your list of goals somewhere you will see it every day and adjust your goals as often as you like. Schedule in a goal planning session each quarter and reevaluate your goals. Don't forget to celebrate your wins every time you cross something off your list!

You need to know what is working and what isn't working in your business. If you are hitting a roadblock in your daily workflow, identify what that is. Maybe you need a new task management system or a CRM system to manage your clients and projects in one place. If something isn't working, change it.

Same goes for your pricing and packages. Now is the time to up those prices. Do your CODB and make sure you are being fairly compensated for your efforts.

Schedule some time to clean up your Google Drive, Dropbox, Desktop, Camera Roll, Email inbox, etc. Round up your miscellaneous pieces of paper with ideas and put them into a word document or a Trello board. Overhaul your CRMs like 17 hats and dubasado. Archive old projects, clients, emails and contracts you are no longer using.

Take some time to write down all your important dates for 2022. Will you be doing Mini Sessions, celebrating an anniversary, doing a giveaway or launching a new product. Putting these in your calendar will force you to plan and prep ahead of time, instead of scrambling last minute. This also gives you content topics for each month. Don't forget to schedule some time off!

Once you have set your goals and evaluated all your systems, you need to ask your self "what's next"? What do you need to conquer these goals successfully? How do you plan to streamline your systems so you can save time and up level your client experience? Do you need someone to hold you accountable? Can you accomplish these on your own? Do you have the time or the knowledge to get it done right? Sometimes bringing in a pro can not only save you time, but also money. Sounds funny right? Let me explain....

Say that project is going to take you 6 hours, well what would you be paying yourself as an hourly rate? What if you could book 1 or 2 clients in that time and outsource that project for less that what you would make in just 1 of those sessions? Sounds enticing doesn't it? Hiring a Virtual Assistant can be affordable and efficient.

So tell me, how are you setting up your business for success in 2022? I would love to chat and hear your plans!
